Joshua, Juanma, Nick and Christian were enjoying some local success with a variety of lead singers. Covering all genres of rock music, Including Queen, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Tina Turner, U2 and Amy Winehouse,Queen was a challenge they wanted to strive to perform as the music is complex. Christian met Charlie when he was performing Queen songs and they discussed joining forces. And so Chess was formed.

How do I know Chess? Originally from Yorkshire but working in London for over 25 years I moved with my husband to Gran Alacant in October 2009 coincidentally the same month Chess were formed. I spotted Chess a Queen tribute band advertised at a local bar only a few months later. Being a great Queen fan it was with some trepidation I dragged my husband along but we were instantly blown away with the infectious enthusiasm of their performance and quality of the sound. It was such a good night we went to see Chess at every opportunity and took all our visiting friends and family whenever they coincided. But one of the most amazing things for us as newbies to Spain was the friendliness and warmth of the band and their followers. We have made some true Spanish and other nationality friends and a couple of pints really does help to lubricate the Spanish language skills.
