RACHEL comes from a classical background after studying music in london she went on to play in bands of all different flavours from string quartets to jools holland. her love of strange folk tunes from around the world bring an interesting twist to the sound to the gnomes/ MICK'S influences are diverse he was a member of a funky world music band who's video was featured on mtv since then he has played in traditional irish and ceilidh bands at some of the bigger folk festivals in the uk and was also a member of 'the dead rabbits' the official pogues tribute band and with them gigged with original members of the pogues spider stacy and andrew ranken/ IAN has played with many bands from pop, folk, and even did a stint as the washboard player in a cajun band! but reggae is his big love and you can hear this in his playing/ MIKE has picked up a multitude of influences from all round the world and has poured them all into his cajon playing,he started out as a singer but travelling around the uk he became enamored with all things percussive, since moving to spain his biggest influence is of course flamenco/ JIM was groovin' to his Daddy's soulful 8-track collection from day One. His biggest influences were threats from his parents and the nausea of being caught in a lie. He comes from Chicago but, unable to pass the Organized Crime aptitude test (and re-test), he turned to music. His singing sounds like a rusty hinge in a church and induces the same effect--goes in one ear and down your spine. When not with the Stolen Gnomes, he plays with himself
